MY OH MY!

Well since I last wrote we have been on quite and adventure!
This storey dates back to August 10, 2010...ah hem..
Day 1
It was a hot and muggy evening. A storm was beginning to brew and Mike and I had just gotten comfortable on the sofa with Lil Mikey all snuggely in to bed when all of a sudden...DARKNESS! We ran for the flashlights and candles and to the windows to make sure we were not alone in the dark but alas, we were. All of the neighbors lights were on. Mike looked out of the living room window and was surprised to see our 100+ year old tree has lost a limb bigger than any of our other trees right down on our power line. Well in fear that the rest of the tree would come down on the house, Mike rushed up stairs and got Lil Mikey out of bed. He was instantly awake with all the excitement! We spent the next hour trying to find out who to call when you have a down power line in your yard and just got the run around. Mike decided to go to the gas station to see if they had a number of who to call. During this time I was speaking with my dad on the phone about what he thought we should do when Mike beeped in, "What do you need out of your car?" I said, "What?" He yelled, "WHAT DO YOU NEED OUT OF YOUR CAR???" I said, "I dunno nothing what's going on?" Well it turns out on his way he ran into some flash flooding and he and the car were floating away! It was insane! So I scooped up Mikey (in his diaper only) and ran out the door and jumped into Mikes truck, Mikey on my lap (car seat was in my car) and flew through the rain to rescue my husband!
We picked him up, soaked to the waist from the flood and the rest of him too because it was pouring and went on our way to the gas station to look for help. We ended up at our wonderful friends and daycare's house dropping Mikey off at 10:30 at night so we could go home and take care of the mess we were in with the house AND now the car! Luckily Mike and Mike (daycare) were able to push the car out of the "flood" and on to dry land so it didn't float any further away.
Made it home to meet the city there as they shut off this live wire. The we went to the neighbors, the WONDERFUL Platte's to charge our phones, store the milk in the fridge, and sit in air conditioning for about 15 minutes before heading home.
Next thing before bed (it's midnight by now) I'm sitting in the Blazer, because it had power, calling the car insurance company to claim my flooded car. Finally we headed off to bed...but it was a long while before I fell asleep that night.
Day 2
Let the clean up begin.
First thing in the morning,
1. Text Jodi to check on Mikey to make sure he is fine (still sleeping of course!)
2. Call the house insurance company
3. Go out and take a look at the damage in the day light, always MUCH worse considering the limb that fell was larger than any other tree in our yard, and our trees are taller than our 2 storey house.
4. Start gathering friends and family for help!
By the end of the day we had over 1/2 of the tree chopped up and taken away or stored for campfire wood! Thanks to all those who helped in this CRAZY cleaning process!
Okay, since then the tree has been completely cleaned up and life has gone back to normal....NOT! Okay the tree is cleaned up...
We just found out yesterday August 23rd, that they were going to be paying off my car in full and sending us a check, so that was 13 days...but you know we wont get that check for at least 2 weeks...So thankfully the weather has been nice enough for dad to ride his bike and I have been able to drive his car.
Now last night Mike's truck broke! Ball joints or something like that.
So as of last evening we were down to one car, and it's not even ours!!!!!!!!! Luckily he is pretty handy and should be able to fix it himself! :) Gotta love a handy man!
Now all of this sucks, but it really made me realize how "things" are not important and people are. We were all safe except for the groceries in the fridge!
Since then I am sure most of you have heard,
Friday August 20 Dad had a MILD heart attack.
They performed a cardiac cath on Friday afternoon and have
decided it is time for the dreaded bypass surgery.
We all knew this day would come, and it sure has.
For right now, Dad is home with mom until
Friday when he will have the surgery.
He seems to be doing well, just tired.
So if anyone decides they want to just
drop in for a visit, maybe you should
call first to make sure he is awake! :)
If you look below I have been trying to upload pictures
from my new phone. I think they turned out well!
The ones of the car seats is showing how nasty and moldy my
car got from sitting in the lovely HEAT we have had!

It's a beuatiful day in the neighborhood...

Playing in Daniel and Sammy's big backyard! Trying to run with the big boys!

Cooking! This is not the most sanitary, maybe next time we will have on an apron!

DA! Ball!

DA! He just loves um!

I'm going to escape! Ha! Watch me go!

Look at those chompers, scratches, and scrapes! He is a real boy!

Hello again so soon!
Here are some more new pictures of our lil man!
Our neighbor (Jenny Platte) decided to try her hand at photography so we are going to be the guinea pigs!
This weekend Mikey decided to 1. get a cold, 2. get a tooth, and 3. learn to say Dog, "DO" and he makes this really cute high pitched "Arf arf" sound to go along with it!
We had a busy weekend. Friday we were supposed to get all of our shopping out of the way but ended up staying home! It was nice to just relax because Mike had to be to work at 4am Saturday.
Saturday Mike went to work but surprised us and was home about 11! He took and nap and Mikey and I went swimming with Auntie Lala! It was so much fun! We went to the Fairbank pool and Mikey loves to just walk around and try to jump in! He does NOT want to hold mommy's hand and mommy does not like it when he wont! He did go under once and was a little shocked I think because he held on a little tighter for a while after that! He really liked being passed back and forth and jumping up and down in the deep end. :0) That way we could all get cooled off.
After swimming we went and got some pizza and Cheetos and headed over to my favorite little Amish store, picked up a few things and headed home! When we got home we got daddy up and headed out the door to do our shopping!
What a lil trooper Mikey was! In and out of Verizon, Hy-Vee, and Target! Poor kid we didn't get home until after 9. He was so tired so we put him to bed, after about 30 minutes of screaming we went to check on him. Turns out he wasn't tired at all! Having mommy AND daddy in his room was just so exciting! We finally gave in after about 30 minutes and headed back downstairs so Mikey could play some of his energy off,. He was in bed and sound asleep by about 10:30. Mommy had high hopes of the kid sleeping in...7:30 isn't to shabby!
Sunday was another great day!
Our friends Jon and Courtney had their son Blake's 3rd birthday party and their daughter Savannah's baptism party in the afternoon. So we packed up after nap time and headed to the park! Mikey wants so badly to run with the big kids! He jumps right in when everyone is playing! He played basketball (yes he can bounce it!) for about an hour plus he had to have cake and ice cream! :) We really wore him out so when we got home he needed a snack and then off to bed! While napping I mowed the lawn and Mike trimmed the trees. We really did accomplish a lot! As soon as I walked in the door to sit down and cool off, Mikey woke up! We spent most of the rest of the evening outside playing! What a great weekend! I can't wait for the next one! Who knows what Mikey will learn this time?!?!?!
