Safe and Sound

This is the damage to Parkersburg IA. About 20 miles from my Mom and Dad's and the same storm traveled 43 miles and did more damage about 4 miles from my house. We were very lucky. We acctually almost bought a house in Parkersburg! We had a lot of debris in our yard, including an envelope from someone in Parkersburg dated back to 1970. I have a lot of pictures that I took of the damage closer to my house that I will upload later but please pray for everyone!

Hello!

I feel like it's been so long since my last blog! I've been son busy at work and at home that I haven't had a second to sit down and do this! I am excited too!!

So I guess I will tell you about our weekend. Friday night we went mushroom hunting and out to dinner at a new Mexican restaurant...it sucked. After that we decided to have a fire in the back yard. We finally had a nice night when we could sit out side with out blankets or coats. Our neighbor from across the street came by to sit for a while and brought us some rhubarb. Then our friends from town came by until it started raining! Saturday we got up and I went to mom and dad's to get dad's car so we could use our trailer because Mike's truck broke down last week. Well Mike really wanted to go mushroom hunting so when I got back with the car we went to all of our spots and some new ones but didn't find any. By then it was time to head back over to Mom and Dad's for dinner and a fire. We had a lot of fun. Laura, Tyler and his some Brody were there and so was Perry. We had a good supper! Mmmm...Brats.

Sunday was the best day ever!! WE GOT NEW FURNITURE! I know I didn't put any pictures up. But we got this awesome furniture for free! We got a couch and a love seat with an foot stool. We got 2 new end tables and a coffee table. They look kinda rot iron ish and have nice glass tops. Ooo lah lah! Well now we look like we have some money we better keep it clean! :) The dogs love to lay all over it, peanut likes to dig up the cushions. Kenny likes to lay on the back because it's like a big pillow! It's funny, they love it as much as we do!

After moving our furniture...thanks Derek! We went and mowed Jeni's lawn...with a push mower. Now Mike and I both grew using push mowers no big deal right?? WRONG we have been using a riding mower for the last few years...you kinda forget but once we got started it wasn't so bad. Thanks for letting us steal your mower Daddy.

The rest of our week has been either busy or lazy. Tuesday Cassy, Adam, and Corina had me and the Mike's over for dinner. Cassy and I grilled chicken...yes the girls grilled! It was awesome chicken too! Ooo...and she made Oreo pie, Corina and I got to lick the beaters! Yum!

Last night (Thursday)

Mike had a nice long nap! Cassy asked me to pick her up some apples on my way home so I did some grocery shopping and got the goods to make salad and chicken and gravy....yummm! Mike liked waking up to a clean kitchen and a hot meal...

I would have woke him up sooner if I had known he was needing to get some decals done to take to a friend by 7:30...in Waverly!!! So we had to hurry up and get them done, then hurry up and take them in to town. Well we grabbed a bunch of pop cans to take back and made it just in time! After the drop off we went to Wal-Mart to return cans and get some stuff...it was funny, I haven't been to Walmart in like a month, we walked around for and hour! I was just so happy to be there! Haha! We finally got back home after 9. I think one day this week I actually sat down before 9, oh it was Wednesday. And it was about 8:15. I was so used to being stuck in the house from the winter and I guess every summer I notice I need more and more time to wind down after the long work day and the long after work day.

Well it's finally Friday! Yay! My day is more than 1/2 over and it's Memorial Day weekend! 3 Days! I spose I better get back to my job eh?

We had a really nice relaxing weekend!

Friday I got off work a little early to go shopping with Cassy, but she ended up working later than planned so I couldn't get a hold of her so Mike and I ran to Kohls and I grabbed a couple new pairs of flip flops then we met up with his friend Terry from work to go mushroom hunting at Hickory Hills. That is where Mikey found 1 lonely shroom pictured above! He was so excited it just really gave him the fever, but we did decide that the season was still too early so we would need to wait and go back.

After hunting for mushrooms, Lil Michael called and we went shooting at the Washburn gun range. It was fun! I shot and hit some! I was proud, Lil Michael and my Mikey were hittin lots!! More than they were missing!!!!

After that we went home and Myndi came over to hang out. We went up to the bar and her some how relation works there so that was fun!

We went to bed kinda late so we weren't able to get up as early as we wanted for garage sales Saturday morning. We found a few things we couldn't live without! After that we went to town to take Mikes mom out to lunch for mothers day. We went to HuHot...yum yum yummy! We ran into Mike's aunt and uncle there that was neat to say happy mothers day! After Lunch we went shopping all over. We all got something new! Mike definitely made out the best! haha! After all the shopping we were all so tired! Mike picked up Lil' Michael and we went back to our house to play some pool. Then we went up to the bar to play pool because it's free! I like their pool table better because it's shorter.

Sunday...Mothers Day!

We started out by getting up and cleaning our house...sorta. Then we went to town and dropped Lil Michael off at home and we went out to eat with our family at Hong Kong. YUM! After lunch we all went back to Grandma's for some really good fruit and gifts. It was nice. Mike and I then went back over to Jeni's house. She got a new car about a month ago but didn't sell her "old" one. I guess it's 10 years old but still in really nice condition. She ended up giving it to Mike on the condition that he would fix it! So she drove it over to our house yesterday and we followed in her car so she could get home. She kept saying there was something really wrong with it. She thought maybe it was the ty-rod but when Mike got to looking at it...it was the tire. Which he replaced today for $25. So I guess we just bought a $25 car! :) Cool! While Mike "Fixed" the car I mowed the lawn. It's much more fun on a riding mower but I find it much harder to do small areas. So Mikey helped me a little. After Mike "fixed" our new car I got to take her for a spin! It was fun! Now I just can't wait to take it on vacation! :) Oh, It's a Mercury Grand Marque. Gold...looks old peopleish but we like it! :)

Ok so I saw something this morning that made my jaw DROP, and made me say O M G!!!
There are a bunch of farms that I pass everyday, this morning wasn't anything special just a normal Iowa may morning. I always look at the farms and the animals on my way to work, especially the cows! We just as I was passing a farm I noticed a small pick-up in the driveway with something very large in the back. As I got closer I thought I saw 4 legs sticking up out if the bed. I thought NO WAY! It Can't Be!! Can it??? I WAS!!!! It was a big ol' bloated cow. Apparently it had died and gone completely stiff! This sucker was HUGE! He took up the whole bed of the truck and his legs were sticking straight up in the air! I'm still amazed at this sight! Haha! I love cows and this really made me laugh! I'm sad I didn't get a picture but I was driving and it happened so fast! :) Happy Friday to all!

So we had a pretty tame weekend compared to our last few weeks! It was fun too!

Friday night I got off work and headed home to my "surprise" mike was sleeping! So my first goal of the weekend was to wake him up! You don't understand how difficult this is when he is comfy! I finally got him out of bed with the promise of pizza. After dinner I gave the terrible twins a bath...they really needed it! EWWW! Then pretty much just layed around the house for the rest of the night because Mike had to work and I had to garage sale Saturday morning!

Cassy woke my up bright and early on Saturday morning...6:30! We were out shopping by 7:15! Oh boy did I get some good deals! I got a new bathroom sink for our downstairs bathroom! I got a shelving unit that I'm using in the breeze way but thinking about transferring to the upstairs bathroom for towels and such. I got 3 pairs of shoes....2 doc martins and a 1 k-Swiss brand new for $4 all together! I got some home decorative stuff and oh boy it was fun! There are a bunch more this weekend! HOORAY! It's great! After we were done oh about 1:00, Mike came home and brought Lil' Michael with him. So we headed right back out! After shopping we went out to lunch at the Center Inn...mmm chicken strips... After lunch we hooked up the trailer and went gravel travelin find us some rocks. Rocks? you ask? Yes! Rocks! We needed them to make a proper fire ring! Oh it looks so Flintstones in our backyard now I just love it! Hooray! After we built the fire ring we had to have a fire! Duh! We burned a lot of lath and wood we burned the rest of the afternoon and into the night, took a break and went back out about 11 and burned some more! It was really fun!

Sunday we all slept in! It felt really good! After we got going we spent some time out in the yard and Mike and Lil Michael made a mini cannon...video is coming! :) Then we hooked up the trailer and headed for town. Mike and Lil Michael wanted to shoot trap so we went to the gun club and they shot a little, it was fun to watch them! After that we went to the park to scope out mushrooms...didn't find a one, but I took some pictures of some pretty flowers and Deere! We went to Jeni's to pick up our lawn mower and weed whacker and headed for home. We stopped in Denver for some groceries (steak!) and then headed for home. We got the lawn mowed and whacked! It was a very productive day all in all! I enjoyed it! Oh and Lil Michael and I made Amish pancakes for breakfast...very dense and filling! YUM! I got a little sun burned already on my forehead so I think Summer has almost arrived! Yay! I'm ready to go swimming!

OK so Yesterday (April 30th) was dad's b-day. We went out to the Hickory House...OMG best food ever! Wow! We hadn't been there in years. RIBS! RIBS! RIBS! Wow! It's getting to be lunch time can you tell?? :) Tyler's mom Vicki joined us because it was her birthday too. Now honestly I thought there could only be one cool mom out there, mine of course, but I'm starting to believe there could be 2! It was very nice to meet her!

After dinner we went over to mom and dads for dessert...Home made strawberry shortcake! OHG SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD! Yay for Mom! Myndi met us over there.

Well we had so much fun sitting around visiting it got pretty late. I felt bad we couldn't go watch dad play at Jameson's but we were sooooooooo sleepy! We ate too much!
