You look awesome ... I know you probably feel like a beached whale or a moose stuck in mud, but you LOOK incredible.
Here's Big Cousin Advice on clutter (how hypocritical... I'll take my own advice later): Get 4 big bags Start in one room (Let's say... Kitchen): Start in one corner. EVERYTHING in this room will either go into one of the bags... or you will place it where it belongs (i.e. the sugar canister was moved to the end of the counter last night... you'll move it back to the canister location.. KWIM?).
When you've gone from one end to the other, your kitchen should be decluttered... meaning- You can wipe down the counter!
You decided if your "Clutter" expands into the cabinets & include them in this sweep, as well.
Bag One: Garbage. THROW IT OUT! You don't need 592 magnets on your fridge. The expired coupons... junk-mail on the counter... throw.
Bag Two: Goodwill/Garage Sale (whatever). If it is GOOD, but you're done with it - throw! I finally realized we didn't need 3 fancy soap dispensers in the kitchen. Since I don't bake, I didn't need 15 Muffin Tins... GET OUT! LOL
Bag Three: "I need to keep this, but don't have time to deal with it right now". This is NOT stuff that belongs in another room. (See Bag Four)...
It could be bills to file or pay or shred... Could be something that belongs to someone else.. pictures you don't want to get rid of, but need to frame or put on the fridge (LATER). Receipts you need to save... user's manuals... whatever.
Bag Four: "Why is this in here?" bag. Like ... a Book, dirty socks and a hair brush in the kitchen... lotion & deodorant in the living room, a spoon in the bathroom...
Now. Bag One - take out ASAP.
Bag Two - Stick it in your garage for the sale or better yet, the back of your car (if it is for donation) the next time you're by the thrift store... DUMP IT. I have a tendency to STORE my donations. Who does that help, really?
Bag Four - Take a trip around your house & put the stuff where it belongs...
Bag Three... After you're done with ONE ROOM.. sit down (you'll need a break.) Take this bag & go through it. Take care of the stuff right away - File it, Shred it, Pay it. If you have a filing cabinet - make a folder for "Pictures" - "Receipts" - User's Manuals (staple the receipt to the manual!!!)
I like keeping friends' Christmas card pics, but what do you do with them after February?... & 3 years later?? (my advice.. unless you're scrapbooking them... THROW THEM OUT). (except my kids' pictures, of course ;)).
SEE! Sounds easy, right?? just don't forget to go through bag #3. I have a bunch of bag #3s in my closet... waiting for me. LOL When I finally go through them - they usually all end up in #1.

Oh, and for clarification, I DO have a spoon in my bathroom as we speak.
Why?
